Comfysocks A/S operates a system for managing their production. The system was originally developed in 2001 and needed to be brought up to modern standards and modern browsers. The work was carried out by Allegro IT ApS in collaboration with the original developer.
The application is written in classic ASP without any modern frameworks — everything is coded from scratch, and the same goes for the updates we made. The challenge in this kind of work is not to replace the system (that would mean throwing away years of accumulated knowledge about how production actually runs), but to get it to run properly on newer browsers, newer servers and under newer security requirements — without changing the business logic the staff are used to.
In practice that meant reviewing the rendering logic so pages behave correctly in today's browsers. We kept classic ASP where it still made sense and only introduced new technology where it was genuinely needed to make the system work under current conditions. The result is that Comfysocks can keep using the system they know — it's just no longer getting in their way.
